Brain surgery study tests which technique works best for rare spinal condition
NCT ID NCT06079125
Summary
This study compared two surgical approaches for people with Chiari malformation type I and syringomyelia (fluid-filled cysts in the spinal cord). Researchers wanted to know whether removing the cerebellar tonsils during surgery leads to better outcomes than leaving them in place. The study followed 250 patients for two years after surgery to measure symptom improvement, complication rates, and quality of life.
