New study measures breathing power in arthritis patients

NCT ID NCT07515131

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compared chest expansion, lung function, and a new measure of breathing muscle strength (S-index) between 52 adults with radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and healthy volunteers. Researchers aimed to understand how the disease affects breathing and to see if the S-index could help assess lung health in these patients. The study did not test any treatment, only measured and compared these health markers.
