Honest talk about chemo risks may lead to better End-of-Life care
NCT ID NCT02606149
Summary
This study tested whether giving patients with incurable lung cancer more complete information about chemotherapy risks would change treatment decisions near the end of life. Researchers randomly assigned 123 patients to receive either standard information or additional details about how chemotherapy might worsen life-threatening conditions. The goal was to see if this honest communication reduced unnecessary late-stage chemotherapy and improved the quality of end-of-life care.
