Breakthrough trial tests Chemo-Free approach for blood cancer

NCT ID NCT02666898

Summary

This study tested a chemotherapy-free treatment approach for adults with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer. All 135 participants received two targeted drugs (obinutuzumab and ibrutinib) for nine months. After this initial treatment, doctors measured remaining cancer levels and adjusted further treatment based on those results, aiming for better disease control with fewer side effects.
