Could a wearable sensor beat the glucose drink test for diabetes in pregnancy?

NCT ID NCT05430204

First seen Dec 11, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) — a small sensor worn on the skin — is better than the usual blood test for diagnosing gestational diabetes in pregnant women. Over 1,600 women between 24 and 30 weeks of pregnancy took part. The goal was to see if CGM screening leads to fewer health problems for babies, such as being very large at birth or having low blood sugar, and whether it saves healthcare costs.
