Can new tech keep diabetic sailors safe at sea?

NCT ID NCT07251257

Summary

This study is testing if modern continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) are a reliable and practical tool for sailors with insulin-dependent diabetes to use while working. It will observe 50 certified seafarers as they use a CGM device and a special app to log their blood sugar and activities for one year. The goal is to gather evidence on how well these devices perform in the unique maritime work environment to help inform future safety regulations.
