Scientists investigate hidden health risks for millions of cystic fibrosis carriers

NCT ID NCT05474430

Summary

This study aims to understand whether people who carry one cystic fibrosis gene (but don't have the disease) might be more susceptible to respiratory infections. Researchers will compare 160 participants—half who carry the gene and half who don't—by collecting nasal cells and blood samples to measure how their bodies handle bacteria and inflammation. The goal is to gather knowledge about potential health differences rather than provide treatment.
