Does a special dye make liver biopsies more accurate?

NCT ID NCT07249268

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at two ways to guide a needle biopsy of suspicious liver spots: standard ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), which uses a dye to make the spot show up better. Researchers wanted to see if CEUS leads to more successful biopsies. The study involved 330 people and found that CEUS may improve the chance of getting a good tissue sample.
