New combo therapy aims to ease stubborn neck headaches without drugs

NCT ID NCT07373912

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) to standard Mulligan therapy can better relieve cervicogenic headache—a headache that starts from the neck. Sixty adults with chronic neck-related headaches will receive the combined treatment. Researchers will measure changes in pain, neck movement, and disability to see if the combo works better than Mulligan therapy alone.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and Mulligan therapy (SNAG technique)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a better non-drug way to reduce pain and improve neck movement for people with cervicogenic headache.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants and no blinding, so results may not apply widely. The therapy is manual and depends on the therapist's skill.
