Drug supercharges radiation in fight against advanced cervical cancer

NCT ID NCT03256916

Summary

This study tested whether adding an oral drug called nelfinavir to standard treatment could help patients with advanced cervical cancer live longer without their cancer returning. 348 patients received either the standard treatment of chemotherapy plus radiation, or that same treatment plus nelfinavir taken beforehand. The goal was to see if nelfinavir makes the radiation work better against the cancer.
