At-home HPV test could save older women from cervical cancer
NCT ID NCT07244315
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to screen for cervical cancer in women aged 50 to 65 in Cameroon. Participants collected their own samples for HPV testing at home. Those who tested positive then had a Pap smear and other exams to check for precancerous cells. The goal was to see if this approach works well in low-income countries where standard screening is often not available or reliable for older women.
