Could thousands of women skip unnecessary cervical scans?
NCT ID NCT07259616
Summary
This study followed over 46,000 women in the Netherlands to understand their risk of developing cervical cancer. It focused on women who tested positive for HPV and had only mild, low-grade abnormalities in their cervical screening tests. The goal was to see if the cancer risk for these women is low enough that they could safely have less frequent follow-up testing, reducing unnecessary medical visits.
