Can a simple ultrasound replace CT for detecting dangerous vein narrowing?
NCT ID NCT04871568
First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at how often vein narrowing happens after placing a temporary dialysis catheter in the neck or collarbone area. Researchers want to see if a quick ultrasound can spot this narrowing as well as a CT scan does. About 100 adults who need a dialysis catheter for at least a week will take part. The goal is to find a safer, faster way to check for vein problems without using radiation.
