New hope for deadly lung failure: drug trial aims to save lives

NCT ID NCT05241067

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called centhaquine, when added to standard hospital care, can help patients with a severe, life-threatening lung condition called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The trial will involve 80 hospitalized adults who need help breathing and blood pressure support. Researchers will compare patients receiving the new drug to those receiving a placebo (saltwater) to see if it improves oxygen levels, reduces time on a ventilator, and increases survival.
