Nasal spray shows promise for sudden vision loss in major trial

NCT ID NCT07453888

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a nasal spray called cenegermin (a lab-made nerve growth factor) to see if it can improve vision in people who recently lost sight due to a condition called NAION, which is like a stroke of the optic nerve. About 272 adults who had vision loss within the past two weeks will receive either the active spray or a placebo. The main goal is to see if more people gain at least 15 letters on an eye chart after treatment.
