New metal knee implant challenges traditional cement method

Summary

This study compares two ways to attach knee replacement implants to bone: traditional bone cement versus a new porous metal surface called Tritanium. Researchers want to see if the new metal surface, which allows bone to grow into it, provides equal or better long-term stability than cement. The study involves 72 patients with knee osteoarthritis who will be followed for up to 10 years to measure implant movement and patient outcomes.
