Stem cell breakthrough trial offers hope for 'Butterfly Children'
NCT ID NCT05464381
Summary
This late-stage trial is testing whether a special type of stem cell (ABCB5+ MSCs) can help heal wounds in people with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a painful genetic condition that causes fragile, blistering skin. The study involves 91 participants with two severe forms of EB. It compares the stem cell treatment, given through an IV, against a placebo to see if it safely helps close specific wounds.
