Superbug secrets: can genes stop our last antibiotic?

NCT ID NCT07475429

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at a dangerous superbug called carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-hvKP). Researchers will collect 100 samples from infected patients to test whether certain bacterial genes (siderophore genes) make the bug resistant to a powerful antibiotic called cefiderocol. The goal is to understand why some infections respond to treatment and others don't, which can help doctors choose the right medicine.
