First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether a blood test called carbohydrate deficient transferrin (CDT) can better detect long-term alcohol abuse in people aged 60 and older compared to standard methods. Researchers enrolled 194 older adults in France and compared CDT results with a common questionnaire (AUDIT-C). The goal was to improve diagnosis in a group where alcohol problems are often missed.
