Double-Pronged CAR-T cells take aim at Hard-to-Treat blood cancers
NCT ID NCT05436509
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new type of immunotherapy called bi-specific CAR-T cells that target two proteins, CD19 and CD79b, found on B cell cancers. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own immune cells, modifying them to recognize and attack cancer cells, and infusing them back. The trial includes people aged 6 months and older with B cell malignancies that express CD19 or CD79b, and aims to evaluate safety and anti-tumor activity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bi-4SCAR CD19/79b T cells
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with B cell cancers that have not responded to other therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with a small number of participants, so the results may not apply to everyone. CAR-T therapy can cause serious side effects like cytokine release syndrome.
