Scientists search for genetic clues in rare childhood lung condition

NCT ID NCT01732185

Summary

This study aimed to discover the genetic and molecular causes of a rare birth defect called Congenital Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation (CCAM), which affects lung development. Researchers analyzed lung tissue samples from 45 children under 8 years old who had surgery to remove the malformation. The goal was to identify specific genetic changes and biological pathways involved, which could improve future understanding of the condition.
