First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jul 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study will test a culturally adapted cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) protocol for teenagers aged 12-17 in Mexico City who have severe suicidal thoughts or recent attempts. About 60 youth and their caregivers will be randomly assigned to either the new therapy or standard care. The goal is to see if the therapy reduces suicidal ideation and depression, and to understand how it could be implemented in the public health system.

- What this could lead to

- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy may not prove more effective than standard care, and long-term benefits are unknown.
