Could cannabis compound calm symptoms of devastating childhood disease?
NCT ID NCT06333041
Summary
This study aims to see if a purified form of cannabidiol (CBD), a compound from the cannabis plant, can safely help manage the difficult behavioral symptoms and improve daily functioning in children with Sanfilippo syndrome, a rare and severe genetic disorder. About 35 participants will take either the CBD medication or a placebo for periods of time, and caregivers will report on changes in behavior, mood, and sleep. The goal is to find a new way to ease symptoms for which there are currently no approved treatments.
