Low-Dose jaw scans put to the test: will they see clearly?
NCT ID NCT07442474
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether using a lower radiation dose in dental cone-beam CT (CBCT) scans still gives clear images of the mandibular canal, the nerve channel in the lower jaw. Researchers compared low-dose scans to standard-dose scans in 20 adults with healthy jaws. The goal was to see if reducing radiation affects how well dentists can see the nerve, which is important for planning procedures like wisdom tooth removal or dental implants.
