Scientists hunt hidden bacteria on hospital IV lines

NCT ID NCT07258862

Summary

This study aims to understand why some common IV catheters lead to infections while others don't, even when bacteria are present. Researchers will collect 250 used catheters from hospitalized patients and examine the invisible bacterial films that form on them. By comparing catheters from patients with and without infection symptoms, they hope to identify what triggers dangerous infections.
