Simple bandage change could protect ICU patients from painful skin sores

NCT ID NCT07437040

Summary

This study tested whether using a modern transparent dressing versus a traditional gauze and tape dressing better prevents painful skin sores caused by central line catheters in intensive care patients. Researchers randomly assigned 78 ICU patients to receive one of the two dressing types and then carefully monitored their skin for signs of damage. The goal was to find the safest way to secure these life-saving tubes and protect vulnerable patients from an additional complication.
