Researchers probe hidden clot risk in hospital catheters

NCT ID NCT07014722

Summary

This study aims to understand why blood clots sometimes form around central venous catheters, which are essential tubes placed in large veins for medication and fluids. Researchers will compare four commonly used catheters by taking blood samples from 88 adult patients immediately after insertion. The goal is to learn which catheter materials and designs affect the blood's clotting system the least, to help make these devices safer.
