Old-School castor oil meets modern medicine to speed up childbirth

NCT ID NCT06335017

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 16, 2026

Summary

This study is testing whether drinking castor oil before a standard medical procedure can help women in labor give birth faster. Researchers are comparing two groups of women: one group drinks castor oil before having a small balloon placed in the cervix to help it open, while the other group only gets the balloon. The main goal is to see if the castor oil shortens the total time from the start of induction to delivery.
