Study asks: should surgery be the first choice for carpal tunnel?

NCT ID NCT05306548

Summary

This study aims to find out if starting treatment with steroid injections is as good as immediate surgery for mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. 258 adults will be randomly assigned to either get up to two injections first (with surgery as a backup) or to have surgery right away. Researchers will follow participants for two years to see which approach provides better and longer-lasting relief from hand numbness and pain.
