Fake surgery vs real surgery: the carpal tunnel experiment
NCT ID NCT06934187
Summary
This study aims to find out if carpal tunnel release surgery actually works better than a placebo (fake) surgery. Researchers will recruit 96 adults with carpal tunnel syndrome and randomly assign them to receive either the real surgery or a placebo procedure that looks the same. The goal is to provide clear evidence about whether the benefits patients report come from the surgery itself or from other factors like natural healing.
