New nerve block tested to ease hand surgery pain

NCT ID NCT05372393

Summary

This study aims to see if adding a specific nerve block to standard local anesthesia reduces pain for patients in the first 72 hours after carpal tunnel release surgery. It will involve 118 adults with confirmed carpal tunnel syndrome who are scheduled for surgery. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard local anesthesia or the local anesthesia plus the extra nerve block, and neither they nor the researchers will know which group they are in.
