Stent showdown: can a mesh tube beat meds for dodging second strokes?

NCT ID NCT07166731

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study compares a special stent (CARESTO® heal) plus medication against medication alone to prevent another stroke in people who recently had a stroke or eye artery blockage due to non-narrowing carotid artery disease with high-risk plaque features. About 536 participants will be followed for mid- and long-term outcomes. The goal is to see if stenting reduces the risk of repeat stroke or retinal artery ischemia better than medical management alone.
