NCT ID NCT07140263
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a four-session group therapy program called CARE-MI for healthcare workers who may be experiencing post-traumatic stress or moral injury from their jobs. The program combines several evidence-based techniques, including EMDR, acceptance and commitment therapy, and self-compassion exercises. Researchers will compare the therapy to usual care in 92 participants across multiple centers, measuring changes in PTSD and moral injury symptoms, as well as anxiety and depression, over six months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CARE-MI group intervention (behavioral therapy combining psychoeducation, EMDR, ACT, and self-compassion)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an effective, scalable group therapy to help healthcare workers cope with work-related stress and trauma.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (92 people) testing a new combination of existing therapies. Results may not apply to all settings, and the intervention requires trained facilitators.
