NCT ID NCT07562776
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether having a carbohydrate drink before abdominal surgery helps patients recover more quickly compared to the usual practice of fasting overnight. About 144 adults having planned abdominal surgery will be randomly assigned to either drink a carb beverage or follow standard fasting. The goal is to see if the drink reduces insulin resistance after surgery and shortens hospital stays.
