New 'Living Drug' trial targets stubborn blood cancers

Summary

This study is testing an experimental treatment called JCAR017, a type of CAR-T cell therapy, in adults whose slow-growing non-Hodgkin lymphoma has come back or hasn't responded to prior treatments. Doctors will collect a patient's own immune cells, genetically modify them to better fight cancer, and infuse them back after a short course of chemotherapy. The main goal is to see how well this one-time treatment shrinks tumors and how long the response lasts, while closely monitoring safety for up to five years.
