Scientists scan for Cancer's hidden weakness: low oxygen

NCT ID NCT04031534

Summary

This study aimed to better understand a condition called 'hypoxia,' or low oxygen, inside throat cancer tumors. Researchers compared two advanced scanning techniques (PET and MRI) in 16 patients to see which was better at measuring this hypoxia. The goal was to learn if the amount of low oxygen in a tumor could help predict if the cancer might come back after treatment.
