New drug targets debilitating weight loss in advanced cancer patients

Summary
This early-stage study is testing a new drug called AV-380, given alongside standard chemotherapy, for patients with advanced cancer who are experiencing severe, unintentional weight and muscle loss (cachexia). The main goal is to find a safe dose and see how the body processes the drug. Researchers will enroll about 30 adults who have this specific type of weight loss and high levels of a protein called GDF-15.
