Nature's symphony vs. city noise: the sound battle for pain relief

NCT ID NCT07037134

Summary

This study tested whether different types of background sounds could help reduce pain for people with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition causing widespread pain. Researchers compared the effects of listening to nature sounds (like birds and rain), city sounds (like traffic), steady white noise, or silence. Each of the 88 participants tried all four sound types in a random order to see which, if any, provided temporary pain relief.
