Your body may know your brain is tired before you do
NCT ID NCT07877389
First seen Oct 16, 2026 · Last updated Oct 16, 2026
Summary
Researchers want to know whether heart activity and skin responses can predict how well someone performs a demanding computer task. Healthy adults aged 18 to 30 attend one visit, wear sensors, rest quietly, then complete a letter-and-number matching task that adjusts to their speed. The team checks whether early body signals forecast later accuracy, beyond sleep and initial performance.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- a computer-based attention task with heart and skin sensors
- What this could lead to
- If body signals predict when focus slips, this could point toward simple ways to monitor mental fatigue during demanding work or study.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, short lab study in healthy young adults, so any link found may not hold for other ages, real-world settings, or people with health conditions.

Study facts
What this study's own registry entry says, in plain language.
- Phase
-
Not a phased trial
Phase numbers describe drug development. The registry uses this when they do not apply, as it does for trials of devices, procedures or behaviour changes, and for observational studies.
