Plant oil tested as natural aid for high blood sugar

NCT ID NCT05053347

Summary

This study tested whether taking alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fat from flaxseed oil, could help improve blood sugar control in adults with elevated glucose levels. Researchers gave 94 participants either ALA or a placebo oil in a blinded crossover trial to measure changes in blood sugar markers and gut bacteria. The goal was to see if this natural supplement could be a helpful addition to managing blood sugar and understanding how it affects metabolism.
