Calming the storm: new study tests drugs to soothe patients waking from surgery

Summary

This study aims to find which of two common drugs works better to prevent agitation when patients wake up from anesthesia after sinus surgery. Researchers will compare intravenous dexmedetomidine against intravenous lidocaine in 80 adults undergoing this procedure. The goal is to make recovery from surgery safer and more comfortable by reducing confusion and violent behavior upon waking.
