Could less calcium be better after thyroid surgery?

NCT ID NCT07577570

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a lower dose of calcium can prevent symptoms of low calcium (like muscle cramps or tingling) just as well as a higher dose in people who have had their thyroid removed. About 50 adults will be split into two groups and monitored for two weeks after surgery. The goal is to find a safer, more comfortable treatment that still works.
