First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at whether pregnant women can take their daily calcium and iron supplements at the same time without harming their own or their baby's iron levels. About 3,200 women in Burkina Faso and Pakistan will be randomly assigned to take both supplements together in the morning or separately. Researchers will check blood samples during pregnancy and at birth to compare iron and hemoglobin levels.
