New monthly infusion aims to halt scarring lung disease

Summary

This study is testing whether a new drug called CAL101 can help slow down the worsening of lung function in people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious scarring lung disease. About 150 adults with IPF will be randomly assigned to receive either the CAL101 infusion or a placebo infusion once a month for six months. The main goal is to see if CAL101 is better than the placebo at preserving how much air a person can forcefully exhale.
