First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tests a new step-by-step method called the Buzdar Technique to safely remove chest tubes that have accidentally pierced the lung. Instead of major surgery, the tube is left in place for two weeks to let the lung heal around it, then slowly pulled out over several weeks. The goal is to avoid complications like air leaks or bleeding and eliminate the need for an operation. The study will enroll 300 adults in Pakistan who have this rare but serious problem.
