Shining a light on mouth pain: laser therapy tested against supplement
NCT ID NCT07381361
Summary
This study tested two different approaches to help people with burning mouth syndrome, a painful condition with no known cure. Researchers compared a low-level laser light therapy (photobiomodulation) against a dietary supplement called alpha-lipoic acid to see which was better at reducing pain. The trial involved 60 adults and measured pain levels using a simple 0-10 scale.
