Can a simple pH adjustment make dental and surgical numbing safer and more effective?

NCT ID NCT07592143

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding a buffer to local anesthetic (numbing medicine) improves pain relief for people with inflamed tissues needing surgery. Sixty-eight adults will receive either buffered or standard anesthetic, and researchers will measure pain levels, how fast numbness starts, how long it lasts, and any side effects. The goal is to find which method works better and is safer, especially for patients with other health conditions like diabetes.
