Buddy tape or splint? study tests simpler fix for broken hand bones

NCT ID NCT06734364

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using buddy tape (taping the injured finger to a neighbor) works as well as a splint for healing certain hand fractures. Adults with a minimally displaced fracture in fingers 2-5 will be randomly assigned to either buddy tape or a splint. Over two months, researchers will measure hand strength and function to see if buddy tape allows similar recovery.
