Inhaled antibiotic tested to tame severe lung disease Flare-Ups

NCT ID NCT03696290

Summary

This trial tested whether an inhaled antibiotic called Cayston could safely reduce the frequency of serious lung flare-ups in adults with severe bronchiectasis. Participants had a history of frequent infections and a specific type of bacteria in their lungs. They received either one of two different doses of the antibiotic or a placebo, using a one-month-on, one-month-off schedule for a year, to see if it could help them go longer between debilitating flare-ups.
