New study: belly shape may predict airway trouble better than weight alone
NCT ID NCT07372846
First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looks at 90 obese adults to see if a newer measurement called the Body Roundness Index (BRI) can better predict how easy it is to place a breathing tube than the standard Body Mass Index (BMI). Researchers will compare BRI and BMI to a special score (VIDIAC) that rates how well doctors can see the airway. The goal is to find a more accurate way to plan for safe anesthesia in people with obesity.
